Breath of fresh air

Most nights I sit down at my computer to work and the house is quiet. The dog is asleep by my side, the cat is asleep on the other side of my desk (or possibly running laps downstairs; you never know), the Little Monster is asleep in his crib and my husband is asleep in our bed. Some nights it takes me a few minutes to get geared up to start working because really, bed sounds super. Some nights I waste 45 minutes clicking around Facebook before I can focus myself and get down to business.

But some nights, on nights like tonight, I am here and I am happy. I may not be bouncy and energetic or buzzing on coffee, and I may be pretty tired from a long day of Monster-taming, and I may deeply, deeply regret attending a class at the gym tonight called Butts, Guts, and Cardio, but I am glad to be staring at this monitor. At this sweet baby girl. At this mom and dad that love her. At this job that is the best in the whole world, even if there are a million things on my “goals & growth” list that still are years away.

I have had more newborn sessions in the past six months than I have ever had before, and they are like a breath of fresh air. (That’s for you, Kati.) I really and truly love all the crazy kids and full-fledged adults I work with, but these babies calm me down and keep me breathing.

Her full session will be posted in the next day or two, depending slightly on how well I can type. (They forgot to mention “arms and fingers” in the name of that workout class.) Just kidding. But seriously. Come back soon unless you are fighting baby fever… this session will melt you.
